QUALITY CONTROL SYSTEM
Viadukt d.d. has a special organization system, i.e. a business unit, whose core activity is the internal quality control of basic materials, construction products and works - Central Analytical Laboratory - located in Rakitje in Zagreb. This business unit contains three departments, for asphalt, concrete and geomechanics.
So-called field laboratories specialized for the quality control of certain materials, construction products and works at some existing construction sites operate within the system, as well as an associated laboratory for the quality control of certain materials and products (asphalt, concrete, stone materials) located next to separate plants for the production of materials and products. There are two types of testing related to the internal quality control of materials, products and works:
Preliminary analyses by which a contractor, before he initiates the construction of the respective part of the structure, proves the suitability of composite material and construction products before they are built into the respective part of the structure.
Constructor’s (internal) quality control: ongoing analyses by which a contractor conducts internal control (checking) of compliance with required characteristics according to the project or existing technical regulations requirements during the execution of construction works.
Asphalt Department performs quality control of the following:
- Production of asphalt mixtures and hot mix asphalt
- Hydroinsulation works on concrete bridges and other structures
- Thin asphalt overlays in accordance with surface treatment systems (hot and cold treatments)
- Bridge expansion joints using the Thorma joint asphalt plug joint system.
Concrete Department performs quality control of the following:
- Concrete production (produced in the central plant, concrete plant at a construction site or in the concrete factory of the plant for prefabricated concrete elements
- Production of prefabricated concrete elements
- Construction of concrete works and structures
- Production and disposition of special types of concrete and mortar in the performance of restoration works on damaged concrete constructions
- Analysis of imperviousness and built-in concrete sewer pipes
Department of Geomechanics performs quality control of the following:
- Earthworks
- Preparation of formation soil
- Embankment and road bed construction
- Road base of non-cohesive gravel-like materials and gravel-like materials in the road construction stabilized with hydraulic binder
- Dewatering, drainage works et al.
- Crushed stone as a raw material for production.
Central Analytical Laboratory, except for the performance of internal quality control of basic materials, construction elements and works, to a smaller extent performs quality control for other clients. It is furnished with a suitably equipped laboratory and field equipment for testing, and has experienced and expert employees: engineers, technicians and laboratory experts.
In accordance with current principles and practice of construction products quality control in the European Union (EU), (based on the Construction Products Directive 89/106/EEC) and implementation of the system heretofore into Croatian rules and regulations as regards construction (laws and other regulations), priorities in quality control for the most part relate to the following:
- production control and
- conformity control of a construction product with the requirements of a specific technical specification, that is, technical regulation (conformity control)
The accreditation procedure of the Central Analytical Laboratory, in accordance with the HRN EN ISO/IEC:2005 standard was registered with the competent accreditation body - Croatian Accreditation Agency (HAA), and the assessment of its competence is under way.
Upon the issuance of the accreditation certificate the Central Analytical Laboratory, pursuant to legal regulations in force, will formally have all competencies analytical laboratories performing compliance assessments performed by the producers have.
The transition from the current classical system of product quality control into the modern system of quality insurance, in conformity with corresponding rules in force in the European Union, is the priority and a duty of the management of Viadukt d.d.
